Easter 2012

Nothing says spring like Easter, and what a fantastic Easter it was this year! It is no secret that I am a holiday girl. I love any occasion to decorate and make the house fun and festive. I am a crafter by nature and holidays are the best times to to let my creative (wild) side free. Easter and Christmas are by far my most favorite holidays so it is pretty safe to say these are the two holidays I go most nuts about! This year our Easter started off with a bunny shaped pancake breakfast. We decided to postpone the Easter basket until after Kaydence ate or eating probably wouldn't have happened! Daddy did a fantastic job and made some delicious butterscotch pancake.

After breakfast it was time for Easter basket fun. Kev and I have both decided to skip the whole drama of Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny, but we still wanted the element of surprise for her basket. So we decided after breakfast that I would take her into the room to get her cleaned up while Kev set up her Easter basket in the living room. I thought Easter would be a great time for yet another tutu, however, I still wanted her to have a cute Easter dress so the only solution to this problem was to have two Easter outfits. Yes, my 21 month old was going to have a wardrobe change in the middle of the day. What can I say she is a rockstar:-)

Easter wouldn't be Easter without and Easter egg hunt. So our next stop on this busy day of Easter fun was grandma's house for a mid-day Easter egg hunt with cousin Juliana. Since Kaydence was only 9 months old last Easter, today's Easter egg hunt would be her first. I have to admit that my excitement for this event was over the top, and Kaydence was pretty excited about it as well. Because Juliana is 3 years older than Kaydence the placement of eggs had to be personalized for each child (Kaydence's a little more obvious.) To make things even and fair, we labeled the eggs with the first letter of the girls names so that they knew which ones were theirs:-) They both had an absolute blast and we adults were more than thrilled with how everything turned out. I was also quite pleased with the beautiful spring weather that allowed for us to have this wonderful Easter egg hunt outside!

Our last stop of the day on this 2012 Easter Sunday was Great Grandpa and Grandma Glaze's house for Easter dinner with Kevin's family. I sure do love Kevin's family and am always to happy to see everyone! We enjoyed a very wonderful spaghetti dinner (with vegetarian accommodations for the few of us who do not eat meat.) Kevin and I brought a beautiful Easter cake that I baked and decorated to share with everyone and we all enjoyed a fabulous evening mingling with family and friends.

All in all I have to say that this 2012 Easter Sunday was by far one of the best Easters I have had. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who made the day so special!
